Courts do not decide which religion is right or wrong and are therefore reluctant to hear information based on a person’s religious beliefs or affiliation. However, when it involves child custody issues, courts are willing to consider evidence pertaining to a person’s religious beliefs and affiliation, especially if it affects a child’s well being in a dramatically negative way. The lifestyle and teachings of the Jehovah’s Witnesses do have a very negative impact upon children and are therefore of great interest to the courts.
